Welcome to the the Friends of Kniveton School PTA.
All parents, carers, guardians and staff are invited to attend our regular meetings in school.
Like all PTAs we rely on the support of our volunteers and are very grateful to those who give up there time to think of and run events. We are always looking for extra help.
FoKS is a registered charity and works solely to raise funds for Kniveton School by organizing fundraising events, which are used to purchase additional resources and days out, outside the normal school budget.
Newsletter Sept 2020
A warm welcome back to school to everyone and a huge ‘hello’ to all the new pupils and parents.
We hope that all the children settle in quickly and enjoy their time at Kniveton School.
Friends of Kniveton School (FoKS) is the school PTA.
FoKS has an essential role in providing funds for school resources and activities for the children.
Over the last year funds have provided new books, teaching resources in music, French, maths, art and sports equipment. FoKS funds have also provided a Greek History Workshop, Christmas pantomime trip and treats like Christmas presents and Easter Eggs. Totalling around £3000.
Fund raising has been limited over the past 6 months. We were sad not to be able to have our summer fair in particular.
We did raise £212 in June 2020 from clothing collected for the Bag2School initiative (see details below).
Fundraising in the Autumn term includes children’s artwork printed as Christmas cards, Kniveton School Recipe Book and a Christmas hamper raffle. We welcome all fundraising ideas and any assistance you can offer!
Social Events and Keeping in Touch.
The opportunity for social events and meetings is limited at present but we want everyone to be able to keep in touch and feel connected.
We have an informal WhatsApp Group for parents and carers. This group can be a great help for queries about school and features a rapid response rate, including from Mrs Board when appropriate!
Please forward yours contact details to Keeley if you would like to be added to the group.
***Fundraising Challenge – School resources***
Each year Friends of Kniveton School asks the teachers for a wish list for resources which cannot be supplied from the school budget and will enhance the children’s learning experience. This year there are many resources which need updating and replacing. FoKS have already pledged money toward these resources from our current funds. We are giving parents and school supporters the opportunity to donate directly toward the resources that you want to have in our school. See attached letter.
Christmas Hamper Raffle Tickets
Raised £293. Thank you for all of the donations for the hampers and the raffle tickets bought.
We hope you enjoyed having your own child’s design to send out. This raised £70.
We would appreciate any feedback about the cards and products,
One of our greenest fund raising activities is the Bags 2 School initiative. This is a way for parents to help us to raise money without it costing you a penny - and it helps you to clear out any old clothes and jumble!
Items wanted: men’s ladies and children’s clothing, paired shoes (tied or elastic band around), handbags, ties, belts, hats, soft toys and jewellery.
The school gets money according to the weight of the bags collected.
